Saúl García Orrit receives the Best Doctoral Thesis award from the Spanish Society for Applied Spectroscopy

Madrid, 4th August 2026. Saúl García Orrit, PhD student at IMDEA Nanociencia until 2023, has been awarded with the Best Doctoral Thesis Prize "M.ª Cruz Moreno-Bondi" by the Spanish Society of Applied Spectroscopy (SEA). The award ceremony took place on the 23rd of July 2026 during the General Assembly of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy, held as part of the Congress on Instrumental Analysis (CAI 2026) in Salamanca.

The award recognises Saúl’s thesis ‘Photophysical properties of nanographene-based molecules’, supervised by Dr Juan Cabanillas and Dr. Víctor Vega (IMDEA Nanociencia) and defended at the Complutense University of Madrid. The prize was awarded unanimously by the SEA’s Executive Committee from among the theses defended in 2024. Saúl García Orrit is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the ICFO-Institute of Photonic Sciences.
